Running Your Race

by Foothills Church on December 29, 2019

Pastor Mark taught on our duty to pass and to receive the “spiritual baton”. In this lesson we’ll dig deeper into the fact that God calls us into “spiritual mentoring/parenting” or “generational transfer”

Every believer has spiritual parents- fathers or mothers in the faith. It is someone who was influential in your Christian life. They offered wisdom, guidance, and love when you needed it. They showed you the essentials of the faith and helped you to apply them to your life. Come to home fellowship prepared to share who was/is a sort-of “spiritual parent” to you. Share one big thing they did or said that really impacted you.

You may not have biological children (you are too young, unmarried, unable, etc.) but every believer can have children of their own: spiritual children. A “spiritual child” is one whom you influence in the faith, someone that you are a few steps ahead of in the faith.Do you have someone who looks to you as a father, mother, big brother or big sister in the faith? Share with the group how the relationship got started and how it works.

Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children… this passage refers to leaving a legacy which can be physical or spiritual. Are you leaving to the next generation?
