Lessons from the Wilderness

by Foothills Church on March 06, 2020

Discussion: in your experience, did you have more temptations when you were younger or when you were older? Why do you think this is?

The common saying, “Idle hands are the devil’s tools” was first recorded in Chaucer's Tale of Melibee (around 1386). The scriptures warn against idleness in body and mind (1Thess5.14, Coll2.18). What is the link between idleness and temptation to sin?

Can you identify with this quote? “What makes resisting temptation difficult for many people is they don't want to discourage it completely” Benjamin Franklin.  Discuss your explanation with the group:

What’s wrong with saying, “I’ll just give in to this temptation now, because I can just ask for forgiveness later”?
