Defining the Relationship

by Foothills Church on June 28, 2020

In the sermon, Pastor Neil pointed out that spiritual maturity will not happen without discipline. In this lesson we’ll learn about the “Laodicean Paradox” that causes many Christians to stumble, and we’ll see that Jesus had a wonderful, fool-proof prescription for becoming zealous and devoted to God and His ways.

Read Revelation 3:14-22, His letter to the Laodiceans. What caused them to become “wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked?”

Why do you suppose Jesus objected to their “lukewarm-ness”? And why Jesus doesn’t try to woo them back? He doesn’t seem at all anxious to prove Himself and His devotion to the Laodiceans. In fact, He seems to think that the rift in their relationship was all them. Is there anything you and I can learn from this about OUR relationship with the Lord?

In this passage, Jesus offers advice to the lukewarm Laodiceans. What remarkable promises belong to those who take Jesus’ advice?
