Undivided - Part 2

August 30, 2026 | Mike Van Meter

Drawing from Colossians 3:12-15, he contends that the foundation for genuine Christian unity and love is a secure, Christ-rooted identity. When believers truly understand that they are chosen by God, declared holy through Christ's imputed righteousness, and deeply beloved, they are freed from the need to protect themselves or seek validation from others. This security makes it possible to put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, and ultimately love -- not as self-generated virtues but as garments that belong to those who have been raised to new life in Christ. Pastor Mike traces the argument of Colossians 3:1-15, showing that the death of the old self and the putting on of the new self in Christ's image is the theological engine that drives all Christian ethics and community life. Love, described through 1 Corinthians 13, is presented as the crowning virtue -- the Medal of Honor of the Christian life -- that binds everything together in unity.
