Jim Deyling's Pick for December:

One or Two: Seeing a World of Difference

by Peter Jones

From Jim: Jones brilliantly clarifies our current clash of cultures/religions. He makes the point that all religions embrace either the idea that God is one or God is two. One-ism believes that "all is one," that everything is part of the divine. Two-ism believes that there is a great distinction between what is created and its Creator; therefore all reality is two, that is, God and everything else. Jones' explanation of Romans 1 gives you a great framework for understanding the evening news. God is a God of distinctions. No blurred lines. This is the foundation for understanding Him. I strongly recommend this book.

Kevin Miller's Pick for December:

Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln

by Doris Kearns Goodwin

From Kevin: This book is subtitled “The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln,” and he truly was a genius. In 1860 Lincoln ran for President against powerful, established opponents. After his surprising victory he showed an extraordinary ability to put himself in the place of other men, to experience what they were feeling, to understand their motives and desires. As president he brought his disgruntled opponents together, create the most unusual cabinet in history, and marshal their talents to the task of preserving the Union and winning the war.

David Matranga's Pick for December:

The Hole in Our Holiness: Filling the Gap between Gospel Passion and the Pursuit of Godliness

by Kevin DeYoung

From David: God describes Himself as Holy – I believe more than any other adjective – and yet we do not have a great understanding of what that means. Kevin DeYoung does a great job explaining what holiness is in a way that is easy to understand, as well as how and why we can live and grow in it.
