Freedom

Transformation should be a natural outgrowth of following Jesus, but sometimes people get saved and don’t realize that there is a whole kingdom to enter. They get stuck in old patterns and arrive at a place where they need a breakthrough. The purpose of Freedom Ministry at Foothills is to create a culture of freedom wherein we are living the abundant life Jesus spoke about.

Freedom is not just the absence of something, it is the presence of Someone. Come and experience truth and the presence of God in a new way.

Freedom Foundation Classes

"If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." -
Jesus

This set of 6 live classes, taught by Foothills senior staff, teach the essential principles of freedom and lay the groundwork for you to hear who God made you to be and empower you to live how He made you to live.

This ministry helps identify why you may be stuck (levels of bondage: core lies, soul wounds, demonic oppression, poor life patterns). It teaches participants how to recognize strongholds and how to get free from them - resulting in new joy, absence of anxiety, and renewed relationships.

Class Topics:
- Defining True Freedom
- Levels of Change
- The Kingdom of God
- Hearing God
- Life in the Kingdom
- Breaking Strongholds

This series of live/ in-person classes is only offered once a year. The next session starts in August 10, 2025 at 10:45am

Session 1: Defining True Freedom

Sometimes familiarity robs us of the depth and richness of the truth that sets us free. The Kingdom of God is the presence and power of God. We all enter this Kingdom at different levels and with different life experiences, which causes us to interpret "giving your life to Christ" in very different ways. Some have not yet understood that Jesus came to set up God's Kingdom on the earth, nor do they understand the power of God to free them and to transform them. Jesus came to set us free, but we often hear, "Now you have to stop being bad and start being good," and we can get stuck, needing to see the power of the Kingdom in a new way.

Session 2: Levels of Change

This class is designed to help identify and avoid traps that are common in man's attempt to change his own life. More importantly, this class explains God's provision and strategy for changing your life from the inside out.

Galatians 2:20 says, "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me." The life of the believer is no longer the life of the believer; it comes from the one we believe in. The dilemma is that once we believe in Jesus' death and resurrection, the enemy can say to us, "You need to try harder to be better." The enemy wants you to work harder with the wrong tools. The goal of this session is to help you think differently about the transformation process of a believer. There are five distinct levels of change: four you can do something about; one was done for you.

Session 3: The Kingdom of God

This class is designed to help you understand the message of Jesus and the reason it carried so much power to transform lives. Jesus wants to give us a whole new way of living.

The scriptures say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matt. 4:17). If we think this means, "You better straighten up because the Kingdom of God is  coming soon," then we are going to miss the most important phrase: "The kingdom of heaven is at hand." The phrase "at hand" means "within reach." It is saying, "Reach out your hand, because this is where the Kingdom of God is. It is within arm's length." This means that you can change the way you take in reality, since in this room with you right now is a kingdom filled with life, power, love, peace, joy, and rightness. Everywhere you go - your house, car, office, etc. - the Kingdom of God is within your reach, and the only thing that prevents you from accessing it could be the way that you see.

Session 4: Hearing God

If God speaks to us, then we have to learn to recognize, hear, and discern His voice. All of us can hear God, and hearing His voice is central to living out our created designs. This class discusses ways to hear God and how we can discern whether it is really God that we're hearing.

When we hear God personally, it changes us forever, and we become passionate seekers of the One we have encountered.

Session 5: Life in the Kingdom

In life, there are things that are God's job and things that are your job. When we understand the tools that God has given us, we begin to have victory, the power of core lies, soul wounds, life patterns, and demonic oppression begin to break off.

At every critical point in our lives, the devil is right there waiting to inform us about what that moment means and what is true of you because of that moment, but so is God! We will learn to discern the voices, get rid of the wrong one, and walk in God's transforming power and truth.

Session 6: Repentance: Breaking Strongholds

Learn a very simple, step-by-step process to resolve personal and spiritual conflict. Learn how strongholds come in and how to break their hold over you and your relationships. Repentance and forgiveness hold the key to new life and real breakthroughs.

In this session we will find out what biblical repentance is and that it is not a one-time event, but a lifestyle to practice daily.

Freedom Conference

This conference is a 3-day event full of teaching and worship designed to help recognize patterns of unbelief and defeat in your life. You will see where you may have embraced harmful patterns in order to protect from past hurts. You will learn new skills to embrace an overcoming lifestyle. Our own Foothills pastoral staff teaches concepts that build on the Freedom Foundation Classes in a cumulative fashion (Saturday's concepts build on Friday's teachings). There are no break-out sessions, only main speakers. Therefore, we discourage attending only one day of the conference.
