My Story
I met Jesus at a sleepover with my cheer squad from El Cajon Valley High School. We were enthusiastic about our faith until we graduated, then we went in different directions and lost our small support group.
My interest in high school and college always gravitated to the business world and I found a natural talent managing offices which I did for several companies in San Diego. In my early thirties my husband, Don and I rededicated our lives to Jesus and focused our new life on loving Him, loving our daughter Lauren, and serving at a small local church.
We starting attending Foothills in 1996 and were amazed at the solid teaching, the moving of the Spirit and the emphasis on kids. One Sunday there was an announcement asking for volunteers to help with an administrative team that Pastors Mark and Dave were putting together to unite East County pastors. I called and told the office to add me to the list of volunteers; later I discovered I was the only person who signed up for that “team.” Helping with this project launched me into a volunteer position at the Foothills office. Soon after I was offered a position working for Pastor Dave Hoffman.
In 2001 I lost my husband of 25 years; my world crashed one October afternoon, but believe me, Lauren and I were never alone. God poured his loving kindness out on us in every possible way at this difficult time. Grief and healing from this loss was very gradual. The faithfulness of the Father was ever-present, as I struggled to rebuild my life. Each year after I felt life, hope and even joy returning. I had a freshness in my walk with God because I leaned into a deeper dependence on Him. And He was faithful. Today I am remarried to a wonderful man, Kevin Miller. Our life together is full. Full of gratitude, full of children, grandchildren and love! As Kevin and I serve together here at Foothills we are thankful for this Body of Christ and the life we have in it.
