Steadfast, Immovable, Always Abounding

by Foothills Church on August 04, 2019

In the sermon, Pastor Mike Van Meter taught us how to be steadfast in a culture of softness; how to be long-lasting in a culture of fads and fleeting commitments. He encouraged us toward diligence, perseverance in the faith and sustaining a long-term walk with God. In this lesson we will dig deeper into the theological virtue of hope, the virtue that supports and sustains all life in God.

The word “hope” in English often conveys doubt. For instance, “I hope it will not rain tomorrow.” But the Bible uses “hope” in an almost opposite way. The virtue of hope is “a strong and confident expectation.” Hope is the sure certainty that what God has promised in the Word is true, has occurred, and or will in accordance with God’s sure Word.

Read 1 Peter 1:3, Romans 15:4, Romans 15: 13, 1 Thessalonians 5:8 and come to home group ready to share what gives you, personally, hope for the future.
