In the sermon, Pastor Dave concluded his 4 part teaching on prayer. In this lesson we’ll dig deeper into the sermon points: 1) persistence in prayer and 2) how prayer keeps you aware of what the Lord is doing in your life and world, and alerts you to the enemies strategies in your life.
Read Luke 18:1-8 and Acts 10:2-4. These passages exhort Christians to persist in praying because God often does not answer prayer instantly. What would happen if God DID grant your prayers instantly? Would YOU do that if you were God? Why or why not? Do you think that your prayers change over time? How? Do you think that YOU change over time? How?
Read Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2, and Luke 22:46 Somehow a lifestyle of prayer keeps us alert and without resorting to prayer- we tend toward dull unawareness of danger or opportunity. Why do you suppose this is? How does a vigorous prayer life shield us against temptation?
